“One year from now, Vuokatti will gather all the best European young athletes together”
With exactly one year to go until the opening of European Youth Olympic Festival 2021 Vuokatti, the organizing committee warmly welcomes the national delegations to take part in the winter European Youth Olympic Festival in Vuokatti.
– One year from now, Vuokatti will gather all the best European young athletes together to compete in these excellent circumstances here in Vuokatti and in the city of Kajaani, promises Marita Kaipainen the secretary general of EYOF 2021 Vuokatti. The people of Kainuu region are eagerly wating to host the EYOFs’ again after successfully hosting the Youth Olympic Days in 2001, continues Kaipainen.
– The preparations of the games are going forward in good cooperation with local, national and international parties. Just last week we had the pre-competition of alpine skiing which gave us a lot of confidence that we are on the schedule and things are going on the right track. Next month we are continuing with the pre-competitions of other sports when the Barents Winter Games start here in Vuokatti, says Kaipainen.
– On behalf of the organizing committee of EYOF 2021 Vuokatti I am also delighted to announce the name of the mascot to celebrate the “One Year To Go” -day. The Siberian Jay mascot is called “Quukkel” from now on, notes Kaipainen. Thanks to everybody who suggested a name for the mascot. We are very delighted for the interest and participation in the name competition, adds Kaipainen.
Tommi Kananen was lucky in the lottery draw. He won an accommodation gift card worth 450€ to Hotel Aatel and two ski lift tickets to Vuokatti slopes. The special prize will be awarded to Henna Sormunen, who suggested a name Quukkeli for the mascot. Congratulations to the winners!
